Carefully weigh the benefits and drawbacks of a department or gas credit card.  While they may be easy to get, your efforts may be better spent trying to get approved for a card you can use everywhere.

Secured Credit Cards

This is yet another option for those looking to get a credit card easily.  If you have less than stellar credit but have a healthy income, then a secured credit card is a viable option.

A secured credit card simply means that you are willing to make a deposit to the bank against the credit limit of the card.  For example, if you have $500 cash, you can give that to the bank as a secure deposit that the bank can use should you default on your monthly payment.  In exchange, the bank will give you a card with a $500 credit limit.

If you are a responsible card owner and make your payments on a regular basis, the bank may choose to return the deposit once you prove yourself to be reliable.

All of these options are good choices for those looking to get themselves an easy approved credit card.  Just be sure to read all of the conditions before you lock yourself into a contract you can’t get out of.
